Asia’s biggest professional pickleball week is underway in Hong Kong.
The PPA Asia 1500 Hang Seng Bank Hong Kong Slam 2026 runs from 19 to 25 October at Kai Tak Arena, Kai Tak Sports Park. It is the first PPA Asia 1500 event ever staged, the season finale of the 2026 PPA Tour Asia, and the richest pro purse the region has seen: up to US$1.1 million (about HK$8.58 million) and 1,500 ranking points for the champions.
The venue
Kai Tak Arena — a 10,000-seat venue opened in 2025 on the site of the old airport — has been fitted with 24 international-standard courts for the week. Pros and amateurs share the same lights and the same stage. A free Fan Zone sits alongside the competition courts for try-outs, booths and merchandise.
What’s on court
The pro draw covers men’s and women’s singles, gender doubles and mixed doubles. Amateur age groups run from U18 through 19+, 35+ and 50+. Organisers expected more than 860 players; the field has drawn competitors from across Asia and beyond, with world No.1s Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters among the headline names.
Home players in the mix
Hong Kong’s top names are already making noise. On opening main-draw day, Nok Yiu Tang (鄧諾瑤) swept into the women’s singles round of 32 with an 11-5, 11-0 win over Kwan Wun Man, then pickeled again in mixed doubles with Eunggwon Kim. Hong Kit Wong (黃康傑), Hong Kong’s top-ranked pro, also came through all three of his first-round tests — singles, men’s doubles with Kim, and mixed with Lingwei Kong.
In the amateur ranks, juniors Athena Leung and Elly Cheng have already taken U18 girls’ doubles gold for Hong Kong.
How to follow
Championship Court action is streaming live on the PPA Tour Asia YouTube channel through Championship Sunday on 25 October. Tickets for remaining sessions are via HK Ticketing (general admission HK$180; reserved Championship Court seating HK$580 midweek / HK$980 for the weekend finals).
This is the week Hong Kong puts pickleball on its biggest stage. The dragon medal — the crowning piece of the 2026 PPA Asia set — is only up for grabs here.
