Monte Wong took silver in amateur men’s singles (35+ / 3.5+) at the Hang Seng Bank Hong Kong Slam on Friday 23 October — a home-court medal run that ended 15–7 against Gee Ci Long in the final at Kai Tak Arena.
Men’s Singles, skill 3.5 and above, age 35 and above, inside the amateur bracket of the PPA Asia 1500. It is the same Friday amateur singles window the Slam lists for 19+ / 35+ / 50+ and the 3.5+ / 3.5− skill bands. Wong’s path through that draw is on the official completed-match feed and on The Asian Dinker live board.
The final and the road there
Gee Ci Long closed the gold match 15–7. Earlier the same afternoon, Wong had beaten Ocean Ho 15–8 in the semi-finals after an 11–8 quarterfinal win over Laurent LOUSTAU. Bronze in the same event went to Pak hong Chan, 15–13 over Ocean Ho.

Earlier knockout games in the same event were played to 11. Verified stops on Wong’s side of the draw include Geoffrey Chan 11–2, Victor Yeung 11–9, and Pak hong Chan 11–8 before the medal rounds.
A 35+ singles resume that already had gold at home
Two years earlier, Wong won the 35+ Open Men’s Singles at the Hong Kong Open Pickleball Championships 2024, staged at Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club from 19–22 September 2024 — results recorded in the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association (HKCTA) Pickleball Newsletter. Friday’s Slam silver sits in that same age band, now under PPA Tour Asia amateur rules and a 3.5+ skill floor.
Selection, not a mainland tour stop
In 2025 Wong entered the HKCTA Pickleball World Cup Selection — the association’s event to choose Team Hong Kong, China for the World Cup. That is a Hong Kong selection tournament, not a verified mainland-China competition appearance.
In Open men’s doubles he was seed 3 with Fung Bo Man. They finished second in Group A, lost their semi-final to Kelvin Lam / Roy Cheng 21–16, then took the 3–4 playoff against Derek To / Yuen Ho Hin 21–12. In mixed doubles with Man Kwan Wun they finished second in Group B, lost a semi-final, and won the 3–4 match 21–17 against Fan Pui Long / Marco Leung.
Wong does not appear on the Hong Kong squad that later took World Cup silver in 2025. Treat “played for Hong Kong in China” as unverified if it means a mainland tournament or a World Cup roster place; the documented fact is the Selection event above.
Pro qualifiers and a local doubles line
On the PPA Tour Asia trail he has also shown up in open draws. At the Panas Malaysia Cup 2025 he finished 16th in the Pro Men’s Singles Qualifier with one win. At the PPA Hong Kong Open 2025 he played men’s doubles with Derek To (match listing on pickleball.com); the available public pages do not give a clean published score for that pairing here, so this feature stops at the fact of the entry.
Kai Tak’s amateur Friday is easy to miss next to the pro showcourts, but the feed still prints full event names — age band, skill band, round, and score. That is how this silver locks to 35+ / 3.5+ rather than a generic “amateur men’s singles” label: the upstream event string is “Mens Singles Skill: (3.5 And Above) Age: (35 And Above)” on the Hang Seng Bank Hong Kong Slam results API.
What Friday adds
Silver at a Slam amateur final is a different kind of line on the same career: age-band singles gold at Clearwater Bay in 2024, a documented World Cup Selection campaign in 2025, and now a 35+ / 3.5+ final at Kai Tak under the Hang Seng Bank Hong Kong Slam banner — settled 15–7 by Gee Ci Long.
